What are faculty study tours?

Faculty study tours are short-term programs of between two and five weeks that link directly to your course. They're run by teaching staff and allow you to take part in a study and cultural experience overseas during your winter or summer break while gaining credit towards your degree.

Hosting between 10 and 20 students, faculty study tours can involve travel to anywhere in the world. Past experiences have included trips to Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

You enrol in a faculty study tour like you do in a unit (they have a unit number). As with your other units, you'll need to complete assessment tasks, but these ones will focus on the tour's site visits, guest lectures and other experiences while you're overseas.

Am I eligible?

Eligibility varies for each program, so check the specifics of your study tour unit before applying. Common requirements can include:

  • completion of a full year of study (24 credit points) of your current degree
  • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 or above
  • completion of any specific pre-requiste units as determined by the academic lead
