Civic Leadership

Our civic mission

The University of Canberra is a place-based institution. For more than 50 years, UC has educated and developed generations of professionals crucial to the economy of Canberra and the region. We have graduated almost 100,000 alumni, the vast majority of whom have hailed from the broader Capital region. We are a fixture of this community.

As the only University established by Territory legislation, the University of Canberra has a special remit to serve the needs and interests of the Canberra region. We play a critical role in the provision of education services, contributing to health, wellbeing and the social and cultural needs of our region.

This special attention to the needs of the community is embodied in our purpose statement: Galambany, meaning 鈥淭ogether we work to empower, connect and share knowledge with our people, cultures and places鈥. Galambany means that we are together as one 鈥 one 麻豆视频, one community.

We are committed to continue improving the life of Canberrans, working together with the community to bridge the gap between our resources and the functional needs of the community. We are the University of Canberra, the University for Canberra: a civic 麻豆视频.
